How to Get Here
Vancouver Island is accessible by vehicle ferry from Vancouver or Horseshoe Bay (near Whistler) via BC Ferries or from Port Angeles, Washington, via the Coho Ferry. It is also accessible from downtown Seattle to downtown Victoria via the passenger-only Clipper ferry; car rentals are then necessary. If you are flying here, Otter Cove Cottage is an hour drive from the Victoria International Airport, where car rentals are easily accessible.
Things to Do
Sooke is famous for its prestine wilderness parks and hiking trails, most notably the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail and the West Coast Trail. The Galloping Goose Trail also offers opportunities for easy walking, cycling, and horseback riding, taking those inclined all the way to the abandoned mining town of Leechtown. East Sooke Park also offers many kilometers of hiking trails and vistas of the Juan de Fuca Strait. For more west coast adventures, visit ecoisland.ca. And don't forget to pamper yourself with a massage after all your trekking around. We recommend Le Sooke Spa or the Goodlife Wellness Centre.
Arts and crafts abound in Sooke with many local artisan galleries open all year round or by appointment; gift shops also carry uniquely Sooke West Coast arts and crafts. Sooke is also a hidden hotspot for great food - everything from bistro/coffee shop to fine dining! Check out Little Vienna Bakery, Otter Point Bakery & Tearoom, and Marcus' Wharfside Restaurant just to name a few. For more information about Sooke, visit Sooke.org.
Daytrips to Victoria and beyond are too numerous to name. For more information on Victoria and Vancouver Island, visit Tourism Victoria or Vancouver Island Tourism.
